A couple days ago we had a huge flock of nighthawks fly over our house, I estimated about 500 or more. At first I didn't know what they were, I thought they were swallows until I figured it out.
Here is a quite heavily cropped picture of one of the nighthawks, the distinctive wing bars give it away.

A few days after we spotted a nighthawk sitting in a tree in our yard in the evening. We got some good pictures.
