Hello there! I am Josiah, a young homeschooling guy on the cold, flat prairies in the middle of Canada with a bunch of different hobbies. I've been interested in birds for a few years now, birding and taking photos when I can.
I am from a family of 9, and we happen to live on a yard that is full of special and exciting birds. For years we've had hawks and owls nesting in our few acre property, as well as a Great-horned Owl that has invariably coming back winter after winter.
I like to explore and dream of travelling parts of the world by bicycle and camping in the wilderness. I enjoy learning languages (Dutch mostly!) and doing Fantasy Cartography (drawing maps :) ). I dabble in photography and videography, occasionally writing. In the summer I like cycling and in the winter I do plenty of snowmobiling and skating.

Wonderful blog! I've added it to my blog roll of Canadian Bird Blogs.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I added yours on my websites and blogs list.
DeleteVery cool Blog, I like it!
ReplyDeleteI have entered yours into my list of blogs. :)
Great! I put yours on mine too.
DeleteWow Josiah. I'm thoroughly impressed! You have some really great pictures and do a great job on your blog posts. You have obviously thrown your heart into learning and enjoying the beautiful creation around you up in Manitoba there. Would the friends from Ontario happen to be the Anjema's? I'm adding your blog to my blogroll so others can enjoy it too. I look forward to enjoying your future posts!
ReplyDeleteThanks! Yes, they happen to be the Anjema's indeed, they told me about your blog and thought I might be interested.
Deletecool website! :) :)
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Deletethank you
ReplyDeleteHey Josiah,
ReplyDeleteI love your warbler on FOF. What a great picture.
I'm Ethan's Mom (BirdBoy) and it has been neat to see what other young birders are doing. Could you get your mom to get in touch with me? There's something I'd like to run by her. She can do it directly through my website, which is: www.suechick.com
Thanks to you and your brothers! Keep up the great work.
Hey Josiah, I love your photos and blog. I believe my husband and I met you and your family out on Black Point Dr at the MINWR in Florida recently. We were looking at a marbled godwit. You were telling us about a Hudsonian godwit you had once seen. There are black-tailed godwits in southern Spain at a fabulous national park called Donana. You would love Donana. Birders come from all over the world and many stay in a really unique town called El Rocio. You are doing a great job on the photos and I love the sketches. Best Regards. Lydia
ReplyDeleteAh yes. Thanks so much for the identification!! It helped a lot!
DeleteThat sounds awesome.. I would love to go there one day. Have you been there?
Here is the eBird checklist from that day. The shorebirds I didn't really count, so I roughly estimated. The other birds I tried count as best I could. http://ebird.org/ebird/view/checklist?subID=S26492563
