Feathers on Friday

We are momentarily leaving to Big Whiteshell Lake. Last year we went there were loads of birds, so I hope we'll see that many this time, I think I'll probably get a new year bird, and if I'm lucky, a lifer! The misquotes will be awful considering the amount of rain though. We'll get back on Saturday, so stay tuned for a post next week!

On another note, the Tree Swallow chicks are growing up fast! And two of our bird boxes have tipped over a bit, those two we put backboards of so the top could open. Fortunately the Tree Swallows seem to be doing fine. On the other hand, the other box is tipped almost all the way forward, there were a few sticks in it, but I think they've abandoned it now. The kestrel box isn't having much luck either, the top blew off from the wind, it broke off. We just aren't having luck with bird boxes this year.

The chicks now have some feathers and their eyes are open, before long they'll be flying away.

Here's Prairie Birder's post: Feathers on Friday

  1. Sorry about your bird boxes, Josiah. I'm sure you'll soon get them fixed again. The little chicks are so sweet. :)
